What if I told you that you can give your love something SO special this Valentine’s Day that they’ll remember it for all time? Yes, couples boudoir portraits are that one-of-a-kind gift you’ll never really be able to top, but you’ll be so thrilled you booked!
The experience of being photographed alone is empowering and liberating, so imagine what it’s like when you get to share these feelings with the person you’re closest to. Couples boudoir helps you see yourself through the eyes of someone who loves you unconditionally.
Whether you want to spice up your love life or just spend some time together, it’s an excellent way for couples to explore what they like about themselves and each other while creating something that will last forever.

Couples boudoir can help you bond and strengthen your relationship.
Most of us are busy people with hectic lives, which means that we don’t always have time to dedicate to a relationship with our partner. I think for all of us, there are times when your most important relationship takes a backseat to work, family, health, and other responsibilities. The key to successful relationship maintenance is really taking some time out to strengthen your bond.
I see so many couples who are always taking quick photos of themselves and posting them on social media. So why not try something a bit more meaningful? If your significant other loves photography, why not ask them to spend some time with you in front of the camera? It’s a great way to turn up the romance and strengthen your relationship.

Couples boudoir photography is all about the two of you and how much you love one another. It’s fun, it’s sensual, and it really lets your partner know that you care about them. It also helps to build intimacy in the relationship. The process can bring out feelings that may not even have been there before.

How can you avoid feeling nervous before your couples boudoir session?
There are a few things to keep in mind before you book your boudoir session. First, remember that the photo shoot is a time for you and your partner to feel comfortable and have fun. There’s ZERO pressure for either of you to try and impress anyone but yourselves! If you just keep this one thing in mind, I promise your session will be everything you could ever dream of.
Next, and this is a very important tip – make sure that you choose a photographer that you feel comfortable with. You’ll be spending the entire session with this person, so be sure they are someone who makes you feel at ease.

You can tell if a photographer is right for you by looking at their website and social media pages. If the photos don’t show the personality of the photographer, then it will really be hard to tell if they’ll meet your expectations at the shoot.
Lastly, choose outfits that will make you feel your absolute best. And that leads me to…
What should you both wear?
You’ll both be posing for pictures, and you’ll both need to feel comfortable with your bodies. This means choosing outfits that make you feel extra amazing.
There are really no rules about what to wear to a boudoir shoot, whether you’re female or male. I tell my clients to choose outfits that they’re most comfortable in. Some women prefer daring lingerie or to go nude. Others choose pretty loungewear or even designer gowns.
As for the guys… I’ve seen men come in with suits and ties as well as jeans and tees. Some opt for jeans only or fitted underwear.
Lots of couples like to pose in a variety of outfits so they can get different types of photos. When you work with me, for example, I have an entire closet of women’s lingerie and loungewear in my studio. I provide all different sizes, so women can play dress up and not worry about bringing outfits with them.
The most important thing to remember is that you do NOT have to pose nude in order to create sensual photos. You can take tasteful shots fully clothed that have just as much of a WOW factor!

How can you guarantee that your couples boudoir portraits will capture who you are as a couple?
A successful couples boudoir shoot is about so much more than the outfits you both wear. The truth is that anyone can buy lingerie or a suit and dress up for a shoot. An amazing boudoir session really boils down to the photographer you choose.
Above all, your photographer needs to understand how to make you both feel beautiful and special, and not like you’re pretending to be someone else.
A great photographer knows that the shoot should always be about the couple, not about the photographer or the camera. People are drawn to authenticity, and there’s nothing more authentic than shooting content that feels natural. If your photographer can make you feel comfortable and connected during the shoot, then they’ll be able to provide you with the photos that you’ve been dreaming of.

What else is important to know about booking a couples boudoir photographer?
The majority of boudoir photographers tend to work only with women. I recommend booking a photographer who has experience specifically with couples photography. They’ll be able to give you advice on how to pose together. It’s important to have someone who understands both the female and male bodies so they can position you in flattering ways.
And of course, you want to work with someone who reflects the same style that you have. The best way to find this person is to look at samples of their work. For example, I have a couples boudoir gallery on my website and I’m always posting on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube.

What if you don’t know how to pose?
Many couples worry about how to pose before their shoot. I always reassure my clients that I pose them for every shot – so they don’t have to worry about knowing anything in advance. While they’re in the process of booking a session, I usually direct them to my guide the most popular couples boudoir poses just to see some ideas.

Should you practice “warming up” for the camera before the day of the shoot?
It never hurts to practice, but again, a great boudoir photographer will pose you on the day of the shoot. All you should have to do is show up, have fun and not think about anything other than your love for each other!
