No matter how old you are, I’m sure you grew up flooded with images of what’s considered ‘beautiful’. Whether it was photos of models in fashion magazines and on runways or the celebrities at red carpet events – you’ve always been shown a narrow view of what beauty is. It’s no wonder that women of every age and shape struggle with body image issues.
There’s no better time than today to step back and learn to celebrate yourself. Yes, self-celebration is a thing! Below I’ve listed some of my top ways to stop comparing yourself to celebrities or models on Instagram and start appreciating YOU!

Celebrate yourself with big and little milestones.
When you get a promotion, when you finally self-publish that book you’ve been trying to write for months, or when you simply wake up and feel refreshed after a great sleep… treat yourself! Buy yourself a new outfit, try a boudoir shoot, or even get yourself some flowers. Because let’s face it, we could all use more flowers in our lives!
List your best traits.
Any time you feel bad about yourself, take out that list and read your own words. Be honest too – never be afraid to complement yourself!

Get out of your own headspace.
When we look at ourselves in the mirror or at ‘bad’ pictures we have taken, we tend to forget how incredible and complex our bodies are. Your body does so many things for you every single day without a complaint! Take some time to reflect on everything your body does for you – be it how it looks in a mirror or the energy and strength you have. This will help you appreciate how amazing your body is.
Break the ‘beauty’ mold.
We live in a world where we’re often trying to fit into a mold that consists of what we see online and on TV. And I get it – we can spend so much time watching others that we forget to love ourselves. We need to wear and do things that make us feel good about ourselves, regardless of what others think.

Embrace yourself.
Don’t waste a single second more comparing yourself to what you think others find ideal. Remember that we are all beautiful in our own way, and there is no such thing as one standard of beauty.
Being happy with yourself is one of the most important things you can do in life – not for anyone else, but because it’s your life! Your body deserves love just as much anyone else’s does. So embrace who you are right now.
What would you add to this list to celebrate yourself? I’d love to hear from you, so share your thoughts on my Instagram and Facebook pages!
xoxo,
Evgenia
