4 Tips for Choosing the Perfect Outfit for Your Plus-Size Boudoir Photo Shoot

#1: Keep It Comfortable

When it comes to choosing what to wear in your boudoir photo shoot, rule number one is to choose clothing that feels nice on your body.

The last thing you want is lace located in an awkward spot that makes you itch — or fabric that gaps in places that make you feel like you’re revealing more than you had planned.

If something is too snug, it will dig into your skin or create unwanted bulges or overflows.

That’s why it’s important to take the time to try on your outfits before your photo session, just to be sure they pass the comfort test. There’s nothing worse than arriving at your photo shoot only to realize you don’t feel comfortable in what you’ve chosen.

#2: Have Fun With Color

Black and white are common colors for boudoir photo shoots, but nothing says you have to stick to them.

While almost any color can look great in boudoir pictures, here are a few tips for helping you choose the colors that are right for you:

  • Pastel pink, purple, or blue add softness and femininity to your look.
  • Jewel tones, like electric blue, deep red, and emerald green, create an elegant appearance.
  • Extremely bright or bold colors, such as neons or stark shades, can distract from the main attraction — you! — so I recommend avoiding them.

#3: Choose Multiple Styles

One of the fun parts of a boudoir photo shoot is the wardrobe change.

You may feel like posing in an oversized t-shirt in one photo and your slinkiest lingerie in the next. And that’s fine! In fact, I even encourage it.

Having outfits in a wide variety of different styles gives you a diverse set of boudoir photos that will look amazing, no matter how you choose to display them.

Your boudoir photo shoot wardrobe might be composed of:

  • One of your favorite pieces, like a treasured lingerie gift set or oversized college sweater.
  • A one-piece set such as shapewear, a vintage slip, a bodysuit, or a nightgown.
  • A cover-up, like an off-shoulder tee, kimono, shawl, cardigan, or large coat or blazer.
  • A two-piece set such as a camisole and hipster panties, corset and undies, or a bra and high-waisted skirt.

#4: Accessorize Your Look

You accessorize your everyday outfits, so don’t forget to accessorize your boudoir outfits with those special touches that highlight your unique personality!

Shoes not only complement your outfit but also make your legs look longer. You might choose:

  • Sparkly, metallic pumps
  • Thigh-high boots
  • Black platform heels; or
  • Nude heels

Do you love antique jewelry? Adorn yourself with a pair of sparkling vintage earrings.

Do you have a set of pearls that have been passed down for generations? Wear them!

Some other great ideas for accessorizing your boudoir look include:

  • Fishnet stockings
  • Belts; and
  • Hats

#1: Playful Promises Bodysuit

My stunning client, Ms. D., is wearing a flirty bodysuit from Playful Promises. This design is both comfortable and flattering for curvy women who may be shy about their first boudoir session.

This bodysuit is free of any cups or boning, so it sits comfortably on your body.

It’s the perfect choice for a woman with a larger bust who doesn’t want to feel constrained.

The delicate lace work is flattering without being too revealing and will accentuate your beautiful curves.

Not only is my wardrobe of plus-size boudoir outfits waiting for you, but so is my incredible hair and makeup artist. If you choose to use her services, we’ll spend time chatting before your session while she helps you feel like the most beautiful version of yourself.

If you’re considering a boudoir shot but aren’t sure if you have the confidence it takes, here’s what one of my recent clients had to say about her session:

“I picked Evgenia because her talent and style are incredible, but also because all the reviews kept saying how comfortable it is to shoot with her. I thought, ‘That’s nice for them, but I’m far too anxious and uncomfortable with my body’ and spent weeks leading up to the shoot prepared to hate the result because of my own self-esteem issues. But Evgenia is every bit as talented, fun, relaxed, and pleasant as the reviews say, and I had soooooo much fun. Please book her! You will not regret it.”

What matters most to me is providing women —  regardless of size, age, or anything else — with boudoir photos that capture their unique personalities, styles, and beauty.

So don’t hesitate. Feel free to contact me and let’s talk about your goals for one of the most empowering experiences of your life.
